Lysander Lee stood on the bridge of the Peaceful Infinity, watching from the Captain's chair at the enigma of a man before him. Trenton Vinh was at the nose of the bridge, hands folded behind his back, his dark eyes studying the fleet outside the viewports ahead of him.
The bridge was roughly triangular in shape, with the Mon Calamarian's architectural soft-curves making it appear more ovoid in nature. The command consoles and stations were ringed by elevated walkways to allow the commanding officers better supervision. There was also a central walkway directly down the middle, separating the command stations partially.
At the meeting of all the walkways, in the back center of the bridge, sat Lee. Trenton was fifteen feet ahead of him, facing the other way, seemingly oblivious to Lee's scrutiny.
The fleet was nearly ready for Hyperspace launch; but not just yet. Trent was using this time to learn the fleet that would be traveling to the void.
Lysander was unsure of the role the man would play. And he wasn't too sure if he had made the right decision to bring him along.
He had needed a reason to go looking for the Iskalloni for weeks, and now here was his chance, staring out a viewport at Lysander's fleet.
Trenton said, almost casually, "You're forces are very impressive. This MC80 Liberty-class cruiser is one-of-a-kind. You're other cruisers are remarkable as well. The Protectorate " He looked to the right viewport at the Star Destroyer two kilometers away, "was in the Yuuzhan Vong war; I remember seeing it in the Battle of..." He paused, searching his memory, "Fondor, and Ebaq 9."
Lee nodded, now making eye contact with Vinh. The Officers and technicians below continued about their work, but every one of them could hear the men speaking. He replied, "Very good, Vinh. She also fought in the Battles of Coruscant, Borleias, Dantooine, Cato Neimoidia, and Endor, on top of hundreds of other campaigns. It is one of the most decorated ships in the fleet."
Trent nodded and continued looking over the ships outside. According to the little Lee knew of him, the man had fought in the war against the Empire, and in the Yuuzhan Vong wars. Lee was old enough to be Trenton's father, and the two had Military careers almost equally long. Trenton had also once been a famed Jedi before his fall from grace.
Lee asked Vinh, "You said you had friends defending the Void, attempting to hold the Iskalloni off?"
Trent nodded, "Yes. We discovered the Void was a choke point; if we stop them there they can't enter G.A. Space from that sector. Knowing we would need time to get reinforcements, some allies opted to hold them off as long as possible."
Lysander could only smile, "And do you think we will arrive in time to save them?"
Trenton's face hardened, his eyes clouding, "Not all of them."
Lee chanced the question, "You are powerful in The Force, right? You were a Jedi once?"
Trenton knew Lee had him on file, but offered no rudeness, "I was a Jedi...and I have never met a Force User stronger than I."
Lee decided he should make his point now, before the battle began "I will trust your guidance as much as I can, but you need to understand that this fleet is not under your command, and that I will be the one making the orders."
Trent nodded understandingly, "As a Jedi I worked with the Military on many campaigns; I have advised before. But I do strongly suggest listening to what I have to say. I have the power to turn the battle."
Lee had heard of Jedi who had been capable of boosting the will morale of allied fighters, while reducing the enemy's morale.
Trent seemed to have read his mind, "I can use Battle Meditation if you wish."
Lee said, "Let's see what happens when we get there. Get the intel before planning the battle."
Trenton nodded.
Both knew the battle would be a deadly one.
