After the destruction of the second Death Star in 4ABY, the Empire was left in tatters. Power struggles among the remaining Moffs led to an almost total destruction, however through sheer will the Empire struggled on. Named the Imperial Remnant, it would be years until it began to gather its former strength; and even then, it was only with the aid of the Galactic Alliance.
Originally governed by Jagged Fel following the assassination of Admiral Pellaeon, the new Empire became fully inaugurated in the Galactic Alliance, becoming the spine of it's defense and armed forces. Construction began on new classes of battleships, and recruitment of Imperial Stormtroopers was finally sanctioned to all species.
Approximately 100 years after the destruction of the Second Death Star, the governing body of the Empire was hit with a crisis; the sudden death of their Head of State had left a prominent void in the command chain, and predictably, the power-hungry council of Moffs began vying for the right to rule.
Into this fray stepped Riktor Xanven, a High Moff and highest ranking official within the Empire. A charismatic being, he affirmed that his position would only be temporary, however he would stop at nothing to ensure the retention of the Empire's principles.
Though respected in the Senate by many, some have questioned Xanven's motives, particularly his constant attempts to bring the Jedi Order to heel. Many fear a reprisal of the Empire of old, and with Imperial forces becoming more prominent by the day, those fears may not be unjustified...
Being a fraction of what it once was, the Imperial Remnant seek to expand its forces so that it may rebuild its vast Empire and destroy the New Republic in the process. At the moment the leadership of the Imperial Remnant is unclear, serving under a Grand Admiral who helps guide the Remnant militarily and diplomatically. The Empire is a threat to the New Republic and the Black Star Alliance and seek to strike back at the forces that brought upon the downfall of the Empire.
